A 22-year-old woman was taken to Harborview with serious head injuries after she was struck by a motorist while running across NE 50th Street after another group of people early this morning.
A 20-year-old man was driving a red 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on NE 50th St. approaching 15th Ave NE when four people ran across NE 50th St in the marked crosswalk on the east side of 15th Ave NE, according to police.
The driver saw the people run across as the traffic signal turned green for eastbound traffic on NE 50th. As he continued through the intersection, a 22-year-old female running in the same crosswalk ran into the path of his car, the report said.
The Honda struck the 22-year-old woman. The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and transported her to Harborview Medical Center with serious head injuries and possible other injuries.
Investigators found no signs the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol. They released him after questioning.
The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. Police are investigating the incident.
