Sherriff's deputies to patrol Burke-Gilman trail
Speeders, leash law scofflaws and outdoor drinkers, take note: King County Parks and the King County Sheriffs Office will be joining forces to crack down on bad trail behavior.
Now through Labor Day King County Sheriff deputies will patrol the Burke-Gilman trail and issue warnings or fines to those breaking the rules.
They will enforce the trail system's 15 mph speed limit and distribute copies of the trail system's code of conduct.
Parks officials estimates the safety program will cost about $20,000. It will be funded through the King County Parks budget.
